12. The Asiago Plateau, also know as the Altopiano, connects the Veneto with Dolomites. It was the site of a major Austro-Hungarian Offensive in 1916 and the Allied final offensive of 1918. It is the area most similar to the Western Front in Italy and the battles there took on a similar character.
